BLAST Open Porto 2026: The Biggest CS2 Teams Battle for $1.1 Million

Counter-Strike 2 has arrived in Porto.

The BLAST Open Porto 2026 is currently underway, bringing 16 of the world’s best teams to Portugal for one of the biggest tournaments of the summer.

The event runs from August 26 to September 6, with a total prize pool and club share pool of $1.1 million. The winning team will receive $150,000 in prize money, alongside a $100,000 club share.

The Road to Porto

The tournament started with the group stage being played at the BLAST studio in Copenhagen.

The remaining teams will then travel to Porto for the final stage, where the competition will move in front of a live audience.

This format gives the tournament two very different environments. Teams first have to survive the group stage before facing the pressure of playing on LAN in front of thousands of Counter-Strike fans.

The Biggest Teams Are Here

The tournament features some of the biggest organizations in modern CS2.

Team Spirit entered the event as the highest-ranked team in the Valve Regional Standings, followed by Team Falcons, MOUZ, Vitality and Natus Vincere among the leading teams in the field.

G2, FURIA, Legacy, Aurora and several other teams are also competing, making the tournament difficult to predict.

With so much talent in the same event, even one bad series can put a team in a dangerous position.

Spirit Start Strong

Team Spirit have already given fans something to talk about.

In their opening match against DENDELE, Spirit secured a victory on Cache, with Danil “donk” Kryshkovets producing another spectacular performance.

Donk recorded two aces during the match, including one round where he dealt 500 damage without taking any damage himself. The performance also pushed him to 20 ace rounds at MVP-level CS2 events, making him the first player to reach that mark.

Spirit continued their run by defeating G2 2-0 in the upper-bracket semi-final on August 28.

Vitality Suffer an Early Shock

Not every favorite has had an easy start.

Vitality were beaten 2-0 by Inner Circle in their opening upper-bracket match. The result was one of the biggest surprises of the early tournament and immediately put Vitality under pressure.

For a team considered one of the strongest in the world, losing the opening series means there is now very little room for error.

Vitality will have to fight through the lower bracket if they want to reach the final stage in Porto.

Falcons Survive a Tough Match

Team Falcons also had to work hard for their place in the next round.

The Saudi-backed organization defeated Lynn Vision 2-1 after a close series. Falcons came close to dropping the match but managed to recover and complete the comeback.

The result keeps Falcons alive in the upper bracket, but the performance showed how competitive this tournament can be.

There are no easy matches when 16 top-level teams are fighting for a place in the playoffs.

NAVI and FURIA Keep Their Runs Alive

Natus Vincere also bounced back in the tournament.

NAVI defeated paiN 2-0 in the lower bracket, keeping their hopes of reaching the final stage alive. FURIA also advanced after defeating M80 2-0.

With several big teams already fighting through the lower bracket, the next few matches could dramatically change the tournament’s final lineup.

Why Porto Matters for CS2

BLAST Open Porto is more than another tournament on the CS2 calendar.

It is one of the biggest Counter-Strike events to take place in Portugal, giving local fans the opportunity to watch some of the world’s best players competing on home soil.

The final stage will take place in Porto from September 4 to September 6. With the tournament moving from the studio environment to a live arena, the pressure on the remaining teams will increase significantly.

The Race for the Trophy

The current results have already created an interesting situation.

Spirit have looked extremely strong, while several other favorites have been forced into difficult matches earlier than expected.

The tournament is still far from decided, and the bracket can change quickly. One strong series can send a team directly toward the playoffs, while another loss can eliminate a contender from the competition.

That makes every remaining match important.

The final stage promises to be one of the most interesting parts of the tournament.

The surviving teams will have to deal with the pressure of a live crowd while competing for a place in the grand final.
